Biography & Background
Mr Charles Chisha Kapachika is a highly motivated and hardworking individual, who studied a BSc in Land Surveying at Malawi Polytechnic and later obtained his MSc In Geographic Information Systems at Leeds University. Further to that, he is a licensed drone pilot. He is currently working with Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences as a Senior Lecturer in Geomatics. He is responsible for delivering modules related to land administration, land surveying, remote sensing, spatial statistics and modelling, spatial analysis and Spatial Information Systems.
Apart from his duties as a lecturer, he has also been involved in a number of projects with various roles. He has been a GIS expert, Land Surveyor, Team Leader in Blantyre City Council QVR project, Lilongwe Water Board Asset geodatabase creation, interactive map creation for a W.A.S.H. project in Chikwawa, proximity analysis of Njuli quarry mine to surrounding households. His roles in the outlined projects included geodatabase development for all property within the city, determination of optimal routes for enumerators, monitoring and evaluation of the projects, map production, surveying property using GPS and Total Station equipment, model building, spatial analysis.
