Taonga Mwapasa is an early-career researcher specializing in environmental health, currently serving as a Research Associate at the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Research and Development Centre (WASHTED). Holding a Master’s degree in Environmental Health, Mwapasa’s work focuses on critical public health challenges, including water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and its intersection with One Health; behavior change interventions; and the environmental impacts of plastic pollution. Taonga has contributed significantly to advancing environmental health research, with publications in esteemed journals such as The Lancet, Science of the Total Environment (STOTEN), and Springer Nature. Her research integrates interdisciplinary approaches, bridging environmental science, public health, and behavioral studies to inform effective interventions and policy development.
