Biography & Background
Joshua Chisambi is a lecturer in the Department of Mining Engineering at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS). He has over 10 years of practical industrial experience in Geotechnical Investigations, Geological mapping, Mineral exploration, Structural Geology, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) GIS and Remote Sensing. Prior to joining MUBAS, he worked as a Geologist at the Department of Geological Surveys. He obtained a PhD (Geology) from Stellenbosch University in South Africa, MSc (Applied Earth Sciences) from University of Twente (ITC) in the Netherlands and a BSc (Geology) from University of Malawi.
He conducts research in mineral exploration, study hydrothermal systems to reconstruct physico-chemical conditions of ore formations.
Development of techniques for regional targeting of mineralization using Remote Sensing (RS) and airborne geophysical data sets. Interpretation of multi- and hyperspectral remote sensing and gamma-ray spectrometry, Magnetics and Gravity data for geological and mineral exploration, including field follow-up and integration with field data and rock sample measurements.
