Dr. Tiyamike Banda is a Senior Lecturer specializing in the design and implementation of intelligent mechanical, mechatronic, and manufacturing systems at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS). He holds a PhD and MSc in Mechanical, Materials, and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Nottingham, with a research focus on the design of intelligent mechatronic systems for the predictive control of CNC machining processes in the manufacturing of aerospace superalloy structural components. In addition to his academic qualifications, Dr. Banda has received numerous accolades, including two Total Malawi Awards, the Best Engineering Student Award at the 2014 University of Malawi Engineering Symposium, and the Grand Prize for Outstanding Postgraduate Researcher in 2021-2022 academic year from the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FoSE) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. He was also awarded a PhD Scholarship by the University of Nottingham. Furthermore, he holds certifications in Research Integrity, Human Subjects Research, Teaching in Higher Learning Institutions, and Occupational Health and Safety from the University of Nottingham. With four years of industrial experience, he specializes in the design and implementation of planned, corrective, and predictive maintenance systems, the development of sensor-based electromechanical systems, and the advancement of sustainable irrigation technologies, including solar-powered pumping and energy recovery systems. Furthermore, He actively collaborates with institutions such as the University of Nottingham, Dongguan University, and the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. Through these partnerships, he has contributed to numerous MSc and PhD research projects, leading to several high-impact publications. His research efforts have also secured funding from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) under grants 110–2222-E-006–008, 111–2222-E-006–011-MY3, and 111–2622-8–006-029, as well as from the Featured Areas Research Center Program within the framework of the Higher Education Sprout Project, funded by the Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) and NSTC (111–2634-F-006–008). These grants have supported the publication of high-impact research in the field. Currently, he also serves as the General Manager of MUBAS Commercial Limited, spearheading the growth of various commercial entities at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences.
