Biography & Background
Dr Limbanazo Mindiera Matandika
Bioethicist/Social Scientist
Research Ethics Committee Administrator
A bioethicists and social scientist by training, Dr Matandika obtained her PhD majoring in bioethics (2023) from the University of Malawi, College of Medicine. She holds a Master of Social Science degree in Health Research Ethics (2017) from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal in South Africa and a master’s in public health degree (2014) from the University of Malawi, College of Medicine. She has vast experience in research governance, research ethics education, clinical trials coordination and project management. Dr Matandika has an impressive track record of publishing several first author bioethics papers that are rigorous, empirical and conceptual.
Her main interest in research ethics include Embedded ethics approaches, ethics education, Informed consent with focus on communication strategies, decolonizing global health, public health ethics, bio-banking and Research Integrity.
Dr Matandika is very active in bioethics and research integrity leadership in Malawi and globally, she developed an online module on Research Integrity, and currently serving as a Research Integrity Ambassador for Malawi. She has won various travel grants as a keynote speaker and panelist to present in global international conferences reflecting research ethics and integrity perspectives from a low- and middle-income setting. In her free time, Dr Matandika is an upcoming florist and a full-time farmer.
