Eng. Dr. Gregory Gamula is a graduate of the University of Malawi—The Polytechnic (1992) now Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) and earned a Master of Science in Renewable Energy from the University of Oldenburg, Germany in 2000. In 2013, he obtained a Doctorate in Environmental Engineering specializing in Energy and Environment from China University of Geosciences. Furthermore, Gregory has attended several local and international short training courses. His research interests include electrical power and machines, renewable energy, energy management and optimization, and hybrid energy systems. He is also a registered engineer, a member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK). He also once served as a board member on the Board of Engineers (Malawi).

Previously, Gregory worked as a Building Services Engineer in the government, rising to the rank of Acting Chief Building Services Engineer in the Ministry of Works. He also served as Regional Buildings Officer for the Southern Region. He then joined University of Malawi – The Polytechnic as a Lecturer in Electrical Power and Machines, Energy and Environment and Renewable Energy courses.

Gregory Gamula held the position of Dean for the Faculty of Engineering from January 2018 to February 2023. He was Deputy Dean for the Faculty of Engineering from February 2016 to December 2017. He previously held the position of head of Electrical Engineering Department, from 2009 and then from January 2014 to January 2016. He also served as Deputy Head of Department for Electrical Engineering Department from April 2007 to June 2009
