Biography & Background
I am an Electrical Engineer and academic with over 15 years of experience in electrical machines, sustainable energy systems and engineering education. My PhD research focused on optimizing pump-as-turbine systems for off-grid power generation, an area vital to expanding affordable energy access in rural communities. I currently serve as a Lecturer in Electrical Power and Machines and have previously held leadership roles as Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences. My work has centred on curriculum development, academic leadership, mentoring future engineers and advancing research and practical solutions in renewable energy.
My professional experience includes designing and implementing solar and hydro mini-grids, as well as participating in national energy initiatives such as the Access to Clean and Renewable Energy (ACRE) project. I have also led projects that deliver solar-powered energy systems for rural healthcare facilities, directly improving service delivery in underserved areas. I have contributed to technical advisory committees and capacity-building programs, including training for engineers, technicians, and healthcare personnel. I am passionate about bridging the gap between research, policy, and practical implementation to support sustainable development.
