Dr. Atupele Ngina Mulaga

Atupele N. Mulaga’s expertise is in Applied Statistics. She is currently a lecturer and researcher in Statistics at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences, Department of Mathematical Sciences. She received a Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) PhD fellowship for her PhD in Applied Statistics which she obtained from the University of Malawi. She has over 10 years’ experience of teaching statistics, statistical software packages such as R, Stata, SPSS and is an experienced quantitative data analyst. She teaches Statistics to students in Environmental health, Environmental science and technology, Mathematical sciences programs.
Her research interest is in the application of statistical and health economics methods. She uses quantitative data to understand equity and inequality in health financing mechanisms, effects of household, individual and community factors on payments of health care services. She is also interested in the application of spatial and multilevel statistical methods to understand the effects of place and geographic variations in health outcomes. She is experienced in analyzing large nationally representative survey data and has interests in survey methodologies. She is also experienced in analyzing experimental data.
