Abstract
The University of Malawi has experienced conflict with government over academic freedom issues. Two recent incidents include the murder of a student who was involved in activism, and the interrogation of a lecturer over comments he made in class.
This paper reflects on challenges concerning academic freedom in Malawi, and suggests the way forward to change the status quo.
